The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, or UNCRC, is the basis of all of Unicef’s work. It is the most complete statement of children’s rights ever produced and is the most widely-ratified international human rights treaty in history.
Four articles in the convention are viewed as particularly special. Known as the “General Principles”, they help to interpret all the other articles and provide our basis for learning and development at school. They are:
1. Non-discrimination (article 2)
2. Best interest of the child (article 3)
3. Right to life survival and development (article 6)
4. Right to be heard (article 12)
Our parent workshop aims to explore The Rights; how we learn about them; why we learn about them and how they impact our children’s future as global citizens and life-long learners.
Please join us to see how you can help us extend the understanding of and implication of The Rights as far as possible outside our school community.
